Mastodon Dentist welcomes submissions on a
continual basis. Average time for a response is
about 6-8 weeks. We read and respond
personally to every submission. It is the least
we can do since you have made the effort,
assuming of course you did put some effort
into your submission.
What we mean by effort is a willingness to
stick to the guidelines, to gear your
submission to this particular publication and
address it in such a way that makes us think
you have chosen it especially for us, even
though you may not have. If it seems like you
just mailed off a form submission to
god-knows how many people, it may go
directly to the trash file.
We generally prefer concise free verse that
speaks to the human condition but try to
steer far clear of touchy subjects such as
personal politics, religion, etc. at least from a
standpoint of taking one side over another.
This is not that kind of a forum. See the side
panel for all the particulars.
Basically you can tell what we like by reading
some of the previous issues. I believe that in
many ways less is more and at the same time if
you're trying too hard it shows. If you feel like
you want to become part of this community of
artists, by all means submit your poetry and/or
artwork to
submissions@mastodondentist.com. You will
receive an automated response letting you
know your submission has been received.
Then all you have to do is sit back and relax,
we'll be in touch.
Thanks for helping make Mastodon Dentist
new and exciting!
