Mastodon Dentist – Issue 13
Charity

Snowflakes drifting past my window,
distant sound of Latin music,
a muffled shout from Central Park,
a mutilated body is discovered.
My neighbor sits downstairs with beer can
getting high on Friday night.
The doorbell rings,
I leap to answer...
wrong bell.
The radiator clanks
inharmonious and gurgling,
I stop dreaming,
scream...scream again....
Doors open, people cry what happened.
I open the door and tell them.
They mutter crazy, nuts, off his rocker.
The doors close.
I run from floor to floor
knocking, pleading.
One door opens.
A hand extends a can of beer.
I go upstairs with beer can
and get high on Friday night.
