I long for the kick back
knock down of your over
whelming presence.
My face in your hands,
you do not allow me to turn
from this intensity.
If I burn, I burn.
If I blind then I blind
with your silhouette
imprinted on my retinal tissue,
my shadow scorched onto the wall.
I take you I take you I take you in
until you leak from my tear ducts.
Catch drops in glass tubes,
press cork with thumbs,
propose a toast.


Living in Baltimore, with degrees and a former career if
science, education and instructional technology, Jennifer
VanBuren now does volunteer work while raising her two
children in addition to writing poetry, creating digital
photography and editing the web-based journal of visual
and literary arts, Mannequin Envy.

Libre Quarterly and Eclectica. One of her poems was
nominated for a Pushcart prize, and her poetry and
